NIGHTS OF SAN PEDRO TABACUNDO

 HISTORY :

The festivities of San Pedro date back to pre-Inca times, when the inhabitants of the Equinoctial Valley (Cayambe-Cochasqui), north of the Pichincha province, worshiped the solstices and equinoxes. It currently includes the Pedro Moncayo and Cayambe cantons.

At present, the folklore and other cultural manifestations of San Pedro have not only remained as the heritage of the indigenous communities, because the white-mestizo population has also assumed this celebration as their own, which constitutes the main axis of the cultural expression of Pedro Moncayo city.
